Wood-skin is a new strong composite material recently developed in Milan, Italy that combines the rigidity of traditional materials (such as wood) with the flexibility of textiles. Gizmag wrote that the material “aims to bridge the gap between virtual design and real construction” as it is able to meet the more complex and changing needs of creating elaborated architectural surfaces. Due to the so-called “one step fabrication process”, construction materials become like tissue with ability to be shaped in many forms yet retaining both their structural and aesthetic value.
