SALT is a project created by Lujac Desautel, an architecture student at San Francisco’s California College of the Arts, as an entry to a young boat designers competition. The idea behind it was to enable people to see the water while sitting in a yacht, which the designer made possible by borrowing elements used in architectural practice. SALT accommodates three dining rooms, five cabins and multiple crew sleeping areas and measures 55 meters in length which is the same height as its main mast.
